Thinking of visiting the showroom soon to pick a new ride? A team of Orozco's Auto Service mechanics from California runs down which particular autos seem unable to reach the 100,000-mile goalpost in a recent TikHub post.
Among the models the pros name are "any BMWs," "any Range Rovers," and even Mercedes C-Class cars. But one specific SUV surfaced among the staff: The Chevy Traverse.
"That one simply doesn't make it [to 100,000 miles]," one mechanic notes in the useful video. "Why is unknown. For some reason those things seem to be like ticking time bombs!
Consumer Reports found another possible disadvantage with the engine in a recent evaluation of the 2024 Traverse LT all-wheel drive model, so some drivers in a TikHub conversation would find it to be a "dealbreaker."
"The engine is quite loud, especially anything above 2,500 to 3,000 RPM," they said. With one other reviewer leaving a remark saying it "sounds like a metal box filled with rocks," it presents as a small engine roaring and resonating inside a big echo chamber.
Alert drivers: Mechanics claim that, given problems with the transmission, the Chevy Traverse could not be the most dependable SUV available the road.
Citing problems before the car runs 2,000 miles on the odometer, several consumers have also gone to social media to warn possible purchasers.
Though the inside is roomy, other possible faults include an abnormally loud engine, brake trouble, and erratic warning and check engine lights.
