South Maui to receive $3.2 million to help control deer

Gov. Josh Green released $3.2 million to build more fencing in South Maui to control the overpopulation of axis deer

State Sen. Angus McKelvey emphasized the funding’s role in preventing flooding and protecting agricultural land

The overgrazing by deer has led to soil instability, increasing flood risks and causing millions in crop losses

Legislators, including Terez Amato, Kyle Yamashita, Lynn DeCoite, and Donovan Dela Cruz, helped secure the funding
