Jets should stay silent over Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers revealed his NFL career and 2025 plans this week.

Rodgers complained on The Pat McAfee Show about his free agency efforts but said he wanted to play again (albeit his reputation is catching up with him).

The quarterback also criticized the New York Jets for his departure during that speech. Rodgers “flew across the country on my own dime” to meet with the new Jets management, hoping to discuss staying.

In truth, it was a quick meeting to inform him that the franchise will release him after two dismal seasons.  Rodgers was “shocked” and thought new head coach Aaron Glenn went “rogue.”

Thus far, the Jets have not commented. On Friday's broadcast of The Rich Eisen Show, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero stated that the Jets invited Rodgers to a meeting when they knew he would be nearby, providing a different perspective.

Other than that, the Jets haven't said anything. No public defenses. No rebuttals. No fixes. Given its history of poor decision-making, that franchise may be doing the right thing by doing nothing.

“Nothing said in response to Rodgers will change anything. It will not help the squad win in 2025 or beyond. Florio wrote that Rodgers would make more noise and want the Jets to go worse without him than last year's 5-12 record.

“The Jets gain nothing from a pissing match with someone who always blames himself. Continuing their plan to move on gives them everything.”
