Four Trump Threats Against Social Security

Uncertainty Regarding Timely Social Security Checks Social Security never missed sending payouts in 85 years. But staff members of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have taken over Social Security records without sufficient knowledge of the system—especially with regard to its COBOL-based architecture.

Ignorance showed itself in the DOGE bogus narrative that fraud was pervasive since, once more, incorrectly millions of individuals over 150 were getting paid.

Social Security Service Slips One of the milestones people have in their life is signing up for Social Security; others call for more particular attention.

Social Security was rated far higher than several other government programs. The Trump cuts in staffing, however, may cause delays in responses to important queries, enrollment, and problem solutions.

Reduction of Independent Social Security Research Under the radar, but also a major threat to Social Security is the recent termination of Social Security research and evaluation contracts with six university-led research consortia

including College of New York (CUNY and The New School, Boston College, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the University of Michigan, the University of Maryland, and the National Bureau of Economic Research.

Under Trump's tax proposals, insolvency arrives sooner. Eliminating the taxation of Social Security benefits for higher-income recipients and exempting tips from taxation will be two big changes

President Trump has suggested to Social Security that would produce benefits reduction in as little as six years. Reducing taxes usually appeals; but, the reverse results in major Social Security program losses.
