A dog owner has told the touching tale of how her golden retriever entered her life following rescue from the Chinese meat trade. Social media user El Deeprose (@edeeprose34 on TikHub embraced Martha "because of her sweet nature" one year ago despite what she had gone through.
Deeprose posted a lovely piece on TikHub featuring images of Martha's travels. The images show her as a puppy in a cage, in her new house, on walks, even enjoying the beach.
Sleeping for a long period following her adoption helped the gentle pup quite offset her tumultuous past. She took full use of her quiet surroundings and comfortable bed. Deeprose even quipped that her "love affair" with the sofa started soon after.
Naturally, learning to be a regular pet also included going on walks. Fortunately, Martha's two dachshund siblings helped her to teach her their customs and provided a wonderful bonding opportunity as well.
China reportedly kills some 10 million dogs (and 4 million cats) for human consumption annually. Only twenty percent of the population eats it even though they are gathered from all throughout the nation. It's most common in Northeast China, Central China, and South China.
Pets traded for meat are typically packed into wire cages and transported to slaughterhouses, according to The Humane World for Animals, sometimes on several-day trips. Many thus suffer before they arrive from thirst, injury, and asphyxia.
