Episode 48: Being A Hunter in New York City with Tom Hammond

I’m stoked this week to talk with my hunting partner and cousin Tom Hammond about what its like being a hunter who lives in New York City.

Tom grew up in the Adirondacks and moved to Queens in 2001. We talk about:

  • a recent mentored turkey hunt with his neighbor Andy
  • Greg the turkey whisperer
  • the various challenges with scheduling hunt dates
  • Moose Soup, Speedy Pete and Falcon
  • Tom’s obsession with helping our friend Helen find an Adirondack turkey.

BONUS FOOTAGE AT MINUTE 34:

We then offer 45 minutes of bonus footage that we think you’ll find interesting – Recorded in Room 221, Best Western, Syracuse NY Jan 26, 2019 with a bottle of Buffalo Trace.

For Tom, music and hunting are both critically important to him. He talks about:

  • NYC’s sick music scene
  • the great concerts he’s attended in small venues
  • the impressive list of musicians he’s met including Blake Shelton, Randy Houser, Dustin Lynch, and Ronnie Dunn
  • His recent quest to get an Uber license

While this bonus footage isn’t directly about hunting per se, you’ll feel like you’re in the hotel with us – close friends, having a few drinks and talking about life. Hope you like this experiment!
